Blonde Ambition: All About These Golden Tresses

Today, I wanted to talk about my

BLONDE HAIR!

Never in my life have I gone this light, but I've always wanted to! I guess I've been scared that it wasn't going to look that great on me, but in the moment I was getting it done, I thought, "it's now or never!!" Haha Plan B was just throwing a semi-permanent red on my hair if it didn't turn out well, but surprisingly it did!

Anywhoooo, I thought I'd write about it for all you other brunettes considering going blonde, too. I mean once you go blonde, there's no turning back right? (in my opinion at least!😜)

Products We Used:

Olaplex No. 1 Bond Multiplier

Joico 20 mL developer

Bleach: Joico Blondie Life Lightning Powder

Toner: Redken in "Platinum Ice" EQ 9V

The Process:

Naturally, my hair is very thick and course and as a dark brunette, it easily became an 8+ hour process (however, it may be less depending on how light your hair naturally is and how easily it takes in the bleach). I was mentally prepared going into this knowing that changing to blonde requires higher maintenance & commitment to healthier hair.

We started at 11 am and didn't end until around 9pm that night. I literally took 3 showers that day, & we bleached my hair twice to get it super light like this highlighter yellow:

Also, I’ve been careful with what I’ve been using post-process to maintain my hair.

Some products that I've been using:

  • It’s-A-10 Leave-In Conditioner: I'm OBSESSED with this conditioner. It literally is the sole reason why my hair went from being very dry and brittle a couple years ago to absolutely healthy and soft! It really does wonders:D

  • Fanola "No Yellow" Shampoo: I used this to tone my hair in the shower after the process to help take out the orange/yellowish tint

  • Fanola Nutri Care Reconstructing Fluid Crystals: Honestly, this stuff makes your hair smell SO GOOD! It helps to repair the damage/split ends, but it also adds a layer of silkiness to it as well!

  • Hydrating Argan Oil Hair Mask By Arvazallia: My roommate recommended this to me & I absolutely LOVE how it makes my hair feel! I use this about every other wash, but this also leaves my hair feeling soft, silky, and shiny! You'll even feel it right after you rinse it off in the shower!

Lately, I’ve also been trying out the brand, Monat, in an effort to use more Vegan/Non-Toxic products:

*=My personal favorites b/c they leave my hair feeling nice & healthy!

Styling Tips:

  • Use LOW heat when curling/straightening your hair. Anything more can literally melt your hair off. You don't want "spaghetti hair" either.

  • Anything without sulphates are good to use for dyed hair, so ALWAYS check the ingredients & do your research!(:

If you have any other tips for maintaining healthy hair, please drop it below in the comments & I'd love to read them!:D
